Soon to be published

So, along with being a singer/actress, it may not be widely known that I am also an aspiring writer. I wanted to get my degree in either Musical Theatre or Creative Writing, but I'm somewhat close with English Lit. Anyway, since we got NY I have been feverishly applying for jobs. Unfortunately, my experience outside of theatre is pretty limited, and even that genre is very limited for the business in NYC. Along the way I started sending my writing to some online magazines and blogs, some paying and some not. Even if I was able to contribute to one that does not pay, it builds my portfolio and gets me the title "published author."

Recently I was contacted by a brand new blog/online magazine specializing in the arts/fashion/etc. Its actually a collaborative community as well, with the group members teaming up to create more than just an article, but an entire project. The founder had some really amazing aspirations for the site and its contributors, eventually it will jump off the pages into real life. I'll leave the details to when it actually comes to fruition. Anyway, he contacted me today and asked me to join the team!!!! I am SO EXCITED!!! I'll be writing about many different things however, the biggest part of my contribution will be two series. One is discovering new artists, mostly from street performers. I'll hook up with one of the photographers and write articles about new and interesting artists who are overlooked and just need a little exposure. The second is following my progression into the theatre business here in NY. I'll write about my experiences and hopefully guide other hopefuls, who are as clueless as I am right now, in the right direction.

I'll let you know when my first piece is published! But you can check out the blog at http://boywithstick.com/. I've been impressed with the writing, especially from the founder. I can't wait to be a part of it!

NYC is AWESOME!!!

We finally found a place this week. What an ordeal! We are excited though. It is a cute studio on 77th, upper east side. Its a 5th floor walk up, so we'll definitely lose some weight...but its a really good size and the rent is FANTASTIC for NY. :) Cam started his new job and he is loving it! I've met his boss and he is a really cool guy. They have some really great events there and I get to go to most of them for free. Yay!This includes the NY auditions of So You Think You Can Dance!

Lots of storage :)
I'll post more pictures when we get it furnished and stuff. We absolutely adore NY. I keep pinching myself to see if this is real. The other day I was studying and I started laughing because I was doing such an everyday thing. Usually when I'm in NY I'm running around trying to fit in as much as possible but now...I do everyday thing. I have to fight with the impulse to feel like I'm not wasting my short amount of time here. lol.
The other day we walked down to Greenwhich Village and went to the building where they filmed the exterior shots for the television show FRIENDS. The little cafe at the bottom was used in the final scene of the movie Reservations.

I'm creating a bucket list of things we need to do here so that we don't turn into those people who live in NYC and never experience it. lol. Hopefully, we'll go to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty in a couple of weeks.

We welcome all to come and visit!!!!!
