Adoption Update
We had our final home inspection today. Our social worker, D, said that there was nothing in our house that kept us from being licensed right away. We have to do like two things but she is going to go ahead with it. She said she could start putting our name forth in matching meetings as soon as next week! They do matching meetings every Thursday. So, now starts the waiting game. We are approved for two, however it may only be one. Because we are concurrent (foster/adopt), placements with us will be different that most foster placements. Its possible that we would take a high risk (meaning the time until the parents rights are severed has hardly begun) if its a little baby. I like the idea of being the first home our child is placed in so that they don't have to make two transitions. However, it all depends. Most likely, our child will already be in foster care when they call us. We'll be called to meet with D, and a few other county people and they will disclose everything they know about the child, then after they answer all of our questions, they send us home to think about it for at least one night. If we decided to proceed, they will set up a meet with the child at the foster home. Then they will set up as many visits as possible in the next little while to get the child familiar with us. Otherwise the experience is what they call the"abduction" experience, which they've already had when they were removed in the first place. The foster parent will start steping back and let us start doing small tasks like feeding them, changing their diaper, taking a walk with them, etc. Then we'll move on to placement in our home.
I know there is going to be much more waiting, but I'm starting to get excited again. I'm a little freaked too though. :) Keep us in your prayers!

Adoption Update
Well, Cameron had his interview Friday. It went really well. I couldn't believe it when he was done in an hour and forty-five minutes! But then...I told them it would go fast, Cameron's family is pretty normal. lol. Our social worker said she was planning on approving us. Yay! She was really impressed with our ideas for parenting and discipline. She liked that we had thought it out so much and she liked our approach. That was comforting. So the next step is to finish her report on us. She has been writing as we went so she said it shouldn't be too long. Two weeks at the most. Then we'll proof the report to make sure the factual stuff is right. Then she sends it to her boss who approves it and then it goes to the county. Then the county will sent up an appointment to do the actual home inspection for safety and stuff. After that, we are actually done!!!! Wohooo! It will probably be another 4-6 weeks, but that's not bad!
So now Cameron and I are going to get focused on getting the house ready for the inspection. The list is HUGE! It is a little intimidating but, we'll take it one step at a time. I have a friend with a 2yr old, so after we're done, I'll let him loose and see if anything needs to be moved. lol!
