So, since that craziness is calming down, we decided to throw a little more into the mix. Right before we left for Christmas we went to see a fertility doctor. He was great!!!! He was really funny, and clear about things, and put us totally at ease.
step number one for Cam is to be retested (poor guy).
Step number two...of that's right, the rest is up to me! Argh!!
Step number one for me is an X-ray ink test. They will be inserting a tube in the ovary/uterine area (fun right?) and filling it with ink. This way, when they take the X-ray they can see if there are any blockages or anything out of the norm in the fallopian tubes and other areas.
If that's normal, step two is Clomid (not looking forward to those hot flashes...). He wants to double the dose I was on last time and try that for a couple of months. If that doesn't work, we'll add insemination to the mix.
Supposing we still have to luck, the next step is a fertility drug that starts with a G (I can never remember the name) that I have to take injections with (yuck!). Then possibly adding insemination.
If that doesn't work (and I haven't had a nervous break down), we'll talk about exploratory surgery and in-vitro or artificial insemination.
The best part is that I now have a clear plan. It such a relief to be able to know what direction I'm going in instead of floating around in the dark. The only part I'm struggling with is knowing that I have a whole lot of disappointment and ups and downs heading my way. Well, here goes... jumping off the cliff.
So excited, so excited, so excited!!! Really, the HSG isn't quite as bad as what people say...but, make sure you take like 800mg of IBprofen before you go in. It only lasts a few minutes...just remember that the worst part is injecting the dye and then when you sit up, it's all gone and fine (beware of the sticky mess though...).
ReplyDeleteI did 2 months of injections...not terrible, like I imagined. I ended up having the mindset that it was for a baby, and I was willing to do whatever it took. Eric and I will probably start treatments back up when we finish our classes. I have to get re-fingerprinted...ugh! Dang FBI couldn't read my prints the first time :(
Anyway, I'm really happy for you that you are starting to get somewhere with infertility...I know how much that makes a difference :)
