Merry New York Christmas

We spent Christmas in NYC this year. We sure missed family and it was a little quiet. However, it was still nice. Cam and I cooked up green bean casserole, stuffing, holiday salad, and a jumble berry pie. We picked up a chicken and some rolls and we were good to go! We also invited a friend over to enjoy this special time with us. She is Jewish and has never celebrated Christmas, so this was a fun event for her. :)

Just venting a little

Everyone I talk to tells me they want to lose weight... So why is it that when I start a competition to give them an incentive, nobody signs up?!?! It's so frustrating when you work hard on stuff and nobody appreciates it. (With the exception you, mom!) It happens to me way too often...

Ready, Set, Lose!

Are you ready to get fit?
How about getting fit not only for yourself, but for a good cause as well?
Ready, Set, Lose! is a fitness competition, as well as a fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association.
$5.00 from every entry fee will be donated to ADA.

*The next competition is scheduled to begin January 3rd, 2011*
Forms must be submitted by December 26, 2010

Ready, Set, Lose! is an 8 week competition. The entry fee is $25.00. The grand prize is cash and will be determined by the number of competitors. There are also some prizes for other categories, but they are a surprise, so work hard overall! We do our  best to help and encourage our participants in every way possible, daily fitness and health tips, blogs, and other suggested helps such as buddies, food and exercise logs, etc. Explore the site and you'll see that together, we can help save lives, starting with yours!

Currently we only have one competitive format, however we will be adding team component options, 12 week heats,  competitions revolving around sports, and other fun activities soon!

Long overdue update

There has been a lot going on here, but then...its New York City! Of course its busy! lol. Cam and I are trying to settle into our apartment, but its difficult when you have no stuff. We are anxiously awaiting the day our things arrive.

Cam adores his job, he says "they will have to pry this job from my cold, dead fingers!" We've had the privilege of seeing most of the shows at BAM. Some of them are a little strange...but others have absolutely blown my mind! Its such an incredible experience to be exposed to so much culture.

I'm working on getting my PT studying done and I'm getting close. I have built a website, blog, and forum for a fitness/weight-loss competition and am hoping to kick it off the first of the year. www.readysetlose.com It's going to be tons of fun and the winner gets a great prize! Plus, proceeds from the entry fees will be donated to the American Diabetes Association. Check out the website, I worked really hard on it!

We are stoked for Thanksgiving this year...WE ARE GOING TO THE MACY'S DAY PARADE!!!!! Woot! Woot! My mom has decided to come out for the holiday and we are so excited to have our first visitor to show around. We welcome all visitors!

We LOVE New York!

Soon to be published

So, along with being a singer/actress, it may not be widely known that I am also an aspiring writer. I wanted to get my degree in either Musical Theatre or Creative Writing, but I'm somewhat close with English Lit. Anyway, since we got NY I have been feverishly applying for jobs. Unfortunately, my experience outside of theatre is pretty limited, and even that genre is very limited for the business in NYC. Along the way I started sending my writing to some online magazines and blogs, some paying and some not. Even if I was able to contribute to one that does not pay, it builds my portfolio and gets me the title "published author."

Recently I was contacted by a brand new blog/online magazine specializing in the arts/fashion/etc. Its actually a collaborative community as well, with the group members teaming up to create more than just an article, but an entire project. The founder had some really amazing aspirations for the site and its contributors, eventually it will jump off the pages into real life. I'll leave the details to when it actually comes to fruition. Anyway, he contacted me today and asked me to join the team!!!! I am SO EXCITED!!! I'll be writing about many different things however, the biggest part of my contribution will be two series. One is discovering new artists, mostly from street performers. I'll hook up with one of the photographers and write articles about new and interesting artists who are overlooked and just need a little exposure. The second is following my progression into the theatre business here in NY. I'll write about my experiences and hopefully guide other hopefuls, who are as clueless as I am right now, in the right direction.

I'll let you know when my first piece is published! But you can check out the blog at http://boywithstick.com/. I've been impressed with the writing, especially from the founder. I can't wait to be a part of it!
